My name is Joana and I was born within a family of different nationalities. My grandparents were born in Morocco with a Portuguese and Spanish background and my mother in France. Years later, they moved to Lagos in Portugal and started a small family business, a guesthouse. Visiting my grandparents and talking with guests always went hand in hand with great home cooked food and a familiar environment sprinkled with laughs and conversations.:brIn 2014, I started my own guesthouse business in Lagos, “Lagos Guesthouses”. Daily conversations with my guests made me become more and more aware of what makes people travel: the direct contact with locals and real gastronomical experiences. :brAs a Food Lover and someone who enjoys travelling, understanding and enjoying local cuisine fascinates me.:brEat at Local´s emerges from my own life experiences, my dedication as a host and a willingness to innovate. This platform aims to connect hosts and guests from different cultures at the same table, in search of a real and unique experience centered around the authentic Portuguese cuisine.:brPortugal is where this project is starting and with plenty of reasons to do so. Great food and hospitality are some of our best resources and we are sure that with the quality of our certificated hosts, every single guest will participate in a valuable and exceptional experience in a dedicated and intimate environment. Each guest will also be given the chance to learn how to cook some of our most famous and traditional dishes, share experiences and take home more than a souvenir, a life story.:brBom Apetite!

Travelling is my passion. Wherever I go, I love meeting local people and try their traditional food. To keep these moments forever, I always carry my camera with me. This is something that really feeds my soul, something that energizes me.:brI am passionate about all the projects that I get involved in and enjoy the freedom of managing my own time. Making things happen are my biggest motivation.:brMeeting new people, spending time with friends, and having them over to my house are all a huge part of my daily life.:brMy favorite place in the Portugal is “Costa Vicentina”. This is a place where I can slow down and enjoy the beautiful landscapes and of course taste the delicious seafood that is caught and cooked right there.

I was born and raised in Lisbon, but I am absolutely passionate about the entire world. I don´t usually miss an opportunity to get out there and explore it. I use my blog, Joland Blog, to share my travels and useful tips, especially with women who travel on their own.:brCosta Vicentina is my favorite place in Portugal because of its unspoiled, natural landscapes and of course the incomparable beauty of the beaches. Speaking of Costa Vicentina, I just can’t resist one of this region’s traditional dishes, Octopus with Sweet Potatoes.

If there is one thing I really enjoy is to get out of my comfort zone. Visiting new places, experiencing different cultures, learning new languages, and tasting new, exotic ingredients really excite me.:brSince I was a little girl, I don’t recall having a favorite dish, as my taste changes according to the seasons of the year and the place I am in. However, I do feel really connected to one of Algarve’s summer time typical dishes, Sardines with Grilled Green Peppers. My favorite place in Portugal? Douro, no doubt. The Douro valley has such an amazing scenery. To me, it is the ideal spot to go on hikes, to spend some downtime.

There are several things that I love doing in life, traveling, meeting people and cooking probably being the main ones. However, I have to admit that cooking is my passion. Thanks to that, I have traveled and have been involved in the stories and experiences of people I have met in various countries. Cooking for them (and for you soon), sitting at a table and being able to enjoy good company and good food really excite me. :brFrom northern Portugal all the way down to the sunny Algarve, from Madeira to the Azores, there is not really one place in Portugal that I can say that I enjoy more than another. Every single city, small town, and village has its own charm and personality. My favorite Portuguese dish is Lamb Stew with Fried Bread.

I am a marketeer and I just can´t live without photography and travelling. I also love meeting people. Whenever I travel around the world, I enjoy tasting different foods and trying new flavors. Back home, my goal is always to try to replicate those new foods and flavors. This is what makes feel happy.:brMy favorite place in Portugal is Ribatejo and my favorite Portuguese typical dish is Beans with Ribs.
